Give Me Your Best Stomach Exercises And I Will Give You The World

by Jeff Ramsey on August 24, 2007

best stomach exercisesIt’s funny how most people always come to me and say, “Hey Tom, what are the best stomach exercises that you recommend me do?” I don’t blame them though, everybody wants to look good and healthy; and exercising the stomach muscles is a huge part of most fitness program. If it is so, then it’s probably safe to say that they deserve to know what the best stomach exercises are, right? Don’t you agree?

I beg to differ. Sorry to say that. Think about this for a second, let’s say that if I were to give you one of my best stomach exercises that is so effective that could even flatten Kevin James’ stomach (the actor of The King of Queens) in 7 days and you are not going to do them consistently, that particular exercise will not benefit you at all, right? No. Period. Bear that in mind.

If you have the will to do the stomach exercises consistently, then the first thing that you have to remember is that the best stomach exercises are those that you are willing to do and follow through consistently. That means, if I were to give you the most simple stomach exercise in the world, so simple that other fitness instructors might think is worthless but if you were to do it consistently, then that would be the best stomach exercise for you.

I always say that you have to do things that you love doing and the rest will come easy to you. In this case, my advice is to do stomach exercises that you think is easy for you to commit yourself consistently to, and find one that you will have no problems in doing everyday. And that, my friend would be the best exercises to flatten your stomach.

In my case, I love doing the crunches as I find it to be the easiest stomach exercise and most convenient to me. I can do it everywhere I go, without any equipment. All I need is a spot for me to lie down. If you find crunches to be the easiest for you to do on a daily basis, then you should remember to not only focus on one area of your stomach. Your workout won’t be that effective. The best crunches workout is to combine working the oblique, which are the side muscles, the lower abdominals, the mid section and also the upper section.

Another good stomach exercise that some fitness gurus consider to be effective is by laying flat on your stomach, leg straight and then slowly raise your upper body up with your arms as your hands are clasped together. Try to keep your body straight as if you’re doing push-ups. Hold this position for as long as you can stand. This is an excellent movement to strengthen the whole stomach. I rarely do this though as I find it hard for me to do on a daily basis.

Remember that the above are stomach exercises that work the best for me. Just because I consider crunches to be the best stomach exercises for me, it doesn’t necessarily mean it is the best for you too. If you are serious about working on your abdominal muscles, then you should find what works best for you. My advice is to try several different stomach exercises and find one that you think is the easiest and that you can do consistently without giving up halfway.

Till then, work that stomach like there’s no tomorrow and live like you’re going to live forever.
